LNG Masterplan - Framework and Market Analysis Meeting in Vienna

act1On 22 January 2014,  the project partners that are part of Activity 1 - Framework and Market Analysis organised a meeting in Vienna in order to discuss on the latest activities and to plan their work for the upcoming months. The objective of this activity is to investigate and to assess the framework conditions, the supply markets and the market opportunities (market demand of LNG) for the implementation of LNG as fuel and cargo on the Rhine-Main-Danube axis. The meeting brought together the partners coming from the two regions involved in the project, namely Rhine and Danube. In addition, the meeting was a good occasion for the partners to clarify together with the project manager internal issues concerning the Strategic Action Plan.

LNG Initiative Nordwest launches new Website

New Member joins the LNG Masterplan Advisory Group

European Transport Workers' Federation has recently joined the LNG Masterplan network, as part of the Advirsory Group.  The International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) is an international trade union federation of transport workers' unions. The ITF consists of around 700 unions representing over 4.5 million transport workers from 150 countries. Read More

First LNG Hybrid Barge Ready By Summer 2014

The world's first LNG hybrid barge will be built and ready to use by summer of 2014.The LNG hybrid barge will enable Port of Hamburg to provide cold ironing power to cruise ships. The barge is part of a project developed by AIDA Cruises and Becker Marine Systems GmbH & Co KG. First LNG Bunkering in Germany

img-2797The first LNG bunkering in Germany took place in the Port of Mannheim on 13 November 2013. The 110 meter long GREENSTREAM, the first inlandgoing vessel running on LNG, arrived in the port of Mannheim and under the surveillance of the Firefighter Department Mannheim, of the Harbour Police, of the tankers owner from Interstream Barging and of charter Shell the LNG bunkering was successfully done. Port of Mannheim is part of the LNG Masterplan project, contributing to the development of a small scale LNG supply chain for Rhine-Main-Danube. Read More

CCNR Launches a LNG IWT Project Online Database

The LNG IWT Project Database
has been developed by the Central Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine (CCNR) and consists of data that has been compiled by the CCNR together with major LNG platforms for inland navigation in Europe such as National LNG Platform, MariTIM, LNG-Initiative Nordwest, TaskForce LNG Noord-Nederland/Energy Valley and Pro Danube Management GmbH (LNG Masterplan Rhine-Main-Danube). TEN-T Days Tallinn - Siim Kallas hands over the LNG Masterplan Decision

Vice-President and Commissioner for Transport Siim Kallas
signed the LNG Masterplan for Rhine-Main-Danube Decision and officially handed it over in the framework of the TEN -T Days in Tallinn (16-18 October 2013). The event brought together Ministers, Members of the European Parliament and key stakeholders, offering all participants the opportunity to discuss the future development of the trans-European transport network, with a special focus on financing, innovation and on the implementation tools such as corridors. For the LNG Masterplan, the TEN-T Days has represented the first important dissemination event where the project management team had the chance to present the project and to distribute the first LNG dissemination material i.e. LNG Info Brochure.

LNG Masterplan Website is Online

The LNG Masterplan website has been launched at the beginning of November 2013. The website is especially designed to offer information to both external and internal users (through the intranet) and to promote the implementation of LNG as cargo and as fuel for the inland waterway trasnport. The project consortium expects that the website becomes the major place for LNG information exchange. Additionally, the website provides two advertisement spaces to promote technical solutions and LNG related equipment.
